Dales and Abbots 100km 17th May 2025

Starting at 9am from Werrington Village Hall, Stoke-on-Trent. The first section passes the 12th century ruins of Croxden Abbey, then on to Rocester, a former Roman Fort and now  the home of JCB. Pass the 18th century Sir Richard Arkwright Cotton Mill, now the JCB academy, before making your way through Marston Montgomery and on to the control near HMP Sudbury(free food and drink provided here). A short ride from the Prison and you pass the impressive Sudbury Hall, one of the country's finest Restoration mansions. The route now takes you into the Derbyshire Dales and then through some pretty Staffordshire villages, including Tutbury, Tattenhill, Dunstall, Yoxall and Abbots Bromley. A possible chip shop control at Hixon before a return through Milwich and Stallington. Some short sections of A roads but mostly on quiet B roads and minor country lanes, ideal for a first time audax. A light breakfast at the start and food provided at Sudbury and the finish(all included in your entry fee). Large car park at Werrington Village Hall and only 4 miles from Stoke Railway station.
